The Building Block Smoothie

At Budding Yoga, we know parent and teacher self-care is a priority. Stress is contagious, but so is a smile. This healthy smoothie is a nutritious and quick way to take care of yourself and those you love. We call it the Building Block Smoothie! It is delicious just with a few items but adding your favorites can make it even better and give you lots of variety. Our special ingredient is usually oats, because oats are among the most nutrient-dense foods you can eat, adding protein to your smoothie!

Planning and preparing this with children is easy and educational. Best of all, you get to make healthy choices a family activity!

Ingredients: (Makes 1 large or 2 medium servings)

½ C. oats

½ T. cinnamon

1 C. almond milk

1 banana

Grind the oats to a powder. Add the cinnamon, milk, and banana and mix well. Your smoothie awaits!

You can add up to another cup of fresh or frozen fruit. I like to add ½ cup of frozen blueberries and 6 chunks or about ½ cup of frozen mango! If you are a dairy or yogurt fan, add 1 cup of yogurt. I love being able to find organic choices for all of these ingredients too.
